Ultrafast is the collective name for exciting new fibre technologies that enable connection speeds of around 300Mbps and in some cases up to 1Gbps — right into your home or business premises.
We know just how important broadband speeds are in modern homes, with many of our daily activities taking place online. Be it uploading pictures or videos to social media, downloading HD and now 4K films, or working from home. We all expect things online to happen quickly.
This is why we're working hard to bring fibre broadband to as many people as possible. More than 26 million premises in the UK can already access our fibre network.
Technology never stands still, so building on the investment we've made in our existing fibre network, we're leading the way in trialling Ultrafast speeds.
G.fast is a cutting edge technology that allows us to deliver Ultrafast speeds over existing copper lines of up to 330Mbps. It builds on our existing investment in fibre, meaning we can deliver far higher internet speeds, more quickly and with minimal disruption. Find out more about our trials and pilot deployment areas.
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
FTTP differs from G.fast technology, in that it’s a pure fibre connection all the way from the telephone exchange right into your home or business premises. As the connection is fibre all the way it can deliver speeds of up to 1Gbps. Find out more about FTTP and where we’re trialling and building network.
