Charity support

Our commitment to good causes

We’re building Britain's connected future and with our growing business we want to demonstrate our energy, enthusiasm and values. In Openreach we’re proud of our people’s commitment and passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Our people generously contribute to people, communities and charities in need of support where they live and work, and worldwide.  Our ambition is to bring volunteering and fundraising into our work every day.

We actively encourage all of our employees to get involved in volunteering and fundraising and there are a wide range of volunteering opportunities to suit everyone.  From donating to the local food bank, getting involved in their local hospice or maybe enrolling to be a special constable or school governor.

SSAFA – Openreach’s chosen charity

SSAFA, the Armed forces charity (formerly the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) is a national military charity that has been providing financial, practical and emotional support to our Armed Forces and their families for over 130 years.  Like Openreach, SSAFA plays a key role in connecting communities.

All over the world people are supporting SSAFA in various ways, from volunteering their time to make a big difference in the lives of people who have served, or are currently serving, to organising challenging fundraising events within their community to raise money for the Armed Forces community.

Their generosity and contributions enable SSAFA to continue to provide life changing services for those who have ever served.  Our people raised over £24,000 in the first year of the partnership and we look forward to many more years working together successfully.

Every year around 20,000 servicemen and women leave the services and return to civilian life.  We're proud to have recruited over 2,000 ex-service personnel over the last few years, giving us a very tangible connection to the work of SSAFA.
